Champions of Liberty

Though not widely understood, we are at war. The other side is doing all the attacking, and lining up their weapons of 4th-generation war for the surge on to planned victory; crushing humanity, nature, honor, integrity and all that is beautiful in our world. If our response is as they hope, it will be haphazard, sporadic and ineffective. They win. We lose. If they do their job right, and are lucky, that will be the result regardless of our responses. I am rooting for, and continually work towards making them be unlucky instead. I long ago adopted the electronic engineering schematic symbol to the left as it represents a resistor. At the very least, that is what I am […]

Communications Basics

Two-way radio communications is a tremendous subject that can and does carry people in many directions. Certainly among the most important are field communications to and from tactical and reconnaissance teams, particularly with some semblance of security or privacy to the information thereby exchanged. Particularly well suited to teaching this fine art is NC Scout. He recently published a book on the subject: The Guerrilla’s Guide To The Baofeng Radio, which I recommend and am buying myself. He also has a web page covering a whole lot more range. I share the outline below, but encourage you to go to the source. Simply click the linked heading. – Ted – The Foundation: Squaring Away Communications Basics Improvised Field Antennas The […]

Guerrilla’s Guide To 2-Way Radio

For my heading, I purposefully modified NC Scout’s bestselling book title that I am discussing in this post. The Guerrilla’s Guide To The Baofeng Radio goes far beyond the make/model amateur radio he recommends in it. I and a fellow active licensed radio operator (HAM) took a local class from him a few years ago. It was extremely informative and valuable. I expect this book to have much of what we learned in that class, and quite a bit more packed into it. I have ordered my own copy, so this is a recommendation in advance of being able to review it, based on what I know of the author and of the subject matter. He created and operates Brushbeater […]

rolling roadblocks

I am teasing my way through Leanings 2 by Peter Egan. This evening I came across a gem describing as I wish I could the massive barrier to free movement when a large group of motorcyclists, or specialized car gang decide to CRUISE roadways that the vast majority of travelers use for actual travel. I have come across small-to-medium-sized batches of them from time to time. If there aren’t too many, or the roadway is favorable, I typically put them behind me … thus disappearing from their lives forever … which should not be any bother at all to them, but often is a major insult in some weird way … if you don’t want to crawl down the […]

chatting up a bicycle gang

In a rare trip to our friends’ restaurant, I noticed a fleet of bicycles parked outside. We sat across from a similar number of gentlemen all wearing High-Visibility vests. I opened a conversation with something like, “You brilliant-looking men must be related to the bicycles parked outside”. That elicited chuckles all around, earning us camaraderie and their fascinating story. The first major surprise was in response to “Where are you all from?” Only two started off on their epic bucket-list coast-to-coast tour together. They met up on the road, found compatibility and have been riding together ever since. Their personal journeys varied from two months to one month on the road with a ways yet to go. A nicer […]

Veteran’s Victory Alliance

In my web post of May 30th, Memorial Day …. beyond beer and hot dogs, I mentioned being involved in the Darby Montana Memorial Remembrance Day program. It was held the day before because bigger venues would occupy the actual Memorial Day – including the nearby 100-year-old Corvallis Memorial Day parade and celebration. I played in the band there – a much larger performance than the TAPS I played Sunday in Darby. Victoria Miralda, a 21-year Army veteran spoke about the need and a program she founded and helps run today to help past and present military and first responders remain grounded. The setting they offer is ideal for giving these people a break from their intense duties in […]

Light Up The Firehalls – May 2022

For several months now the Corvallis American Legion amateur radio club subsection has been operating field exercises from various volunteer fire department firehalls throughout our county – the area we fondly call “The Bitterroot”. Our long-term goal for this program is for KG7SPL to be a backup communication service for the volunteer fire departments of Ravalli County. The VFDs are the core of emergency response in The Bitterroot. They are located in every area, have agreed-upon coverage maps and can muster 20 or more active, skilled volunteers in a matter of minutes. Our route to providing comms backup involves a monthly exercises of our equipment and operators from the VFD stations. We go live at 1300 hrs local (1:00 […]

The superiority of the hangman’s noose

In this video I explain how to make one and why they are much better for straightening out your communities than occasional snipers. I have no idea why a childhood lesson, used not once since, has stuck with me for 60 years, but it has. Today I drag my learning of that special knot out of the dusty, dank portions of my brain to pass it on. This skill has applicability for communities who want to recapture honor, integrity, caring and other niceties for their families, friends and neighbors. Those annoying kids from primary and secondary schools who dedicated themselves to acquiring titles and badges of dominance grew up to do the same darn things on a much more serious […]

Wills

By definition, a Last Will and Testament is what the dude wanted to have happen with the tangible results of his life’s work. Those interested in honoring his wishes look to “The Will” for guidance in executing that. Of course he no longer cares, but did put some thought into the impacts on his offspring and beneficiaries that if not absolutely legally binding are at the very least worthy of consideration. I have recently been pondering mine. I’m not convinced my rather normal existing one properly reflects my current thinking. I now look back to a time when humans were not manipulated by banksters, lawyers, carpetbaggers and scalawags. In primal cultures that probably meant those who were nearby, likely […]

web hosting bill comes due

I am one of those fixed-income retirees of modest means that you hear about from time to time. I have not quite figured me out, but I am working on it. I enjoy puttering in my woodshop, metalshop, inventor/creator space. I also like playing trombone, upright bass and elementary artistic painting … and a few other hands-on-type things, mostly creative. What I do with much of my time instead is what I consider to be my community service… rewarding in their own ways of course, but not quite as much FUN. In that category are the classes I taught through the Darby Adult Education program to help people earn and upgrade their amateur radio licenses, understand Linux operating systems, […]

I lost a friend

I happened to be listening on the scanner Jeff programmed for me in exchange for some stuff I did for him. An emergency evolved starting with “a man fell, hit his head, is not breathing, CPR is ongoing”. I realized I knew the location well, the man, and the other people directly involved. I made a phone call to a mutual friend who would be in a better position to take useful action, find more information, or actually execute a worthy response. I listened as the situation transitioned through several steps to “coroner called”, and knew I had just lost a friend. I don’t know if the information sequence was good for me or not, but it did hit […]

LT. GENERAL MICHAEL FLYNN SPEAKS WITH RICCARDO BOSI

Okay, I didn’t know who Riccardo Bosi was either, but he turns out to be a renowned Australian video producer and liberty champion – who in this case hosted General Flynn to the large Australian audience Riccardo has apparently earned. Of course we do know who Michael Flynn is. This, however, is my first exposure to his speaking. I am now officially a fan. No wonder The Deep State tried so hard to crush him… a formidable foe indeed. A huge asset for our side. Watch the video. Here are my notes from watching: People cannot sit still Local action has national impact Get involved in your community like you have never been involved before We are in the middle […]

Building relationships

Community, family, friends, good neighbors are all about to become crucial to our well-being. The most important prepper action you can do today is build those. In a solid community, everyone works together to solve problems of the group and the individuals therein. That is the strength of homo-sapiens. We make great teams… or at least, can. Unfortunately, those who had control for the last century or more wanted us weak and divided. Their reign is passing. Their power is in decline. Their age of darkness is ending while the age of light is beginning. We are shifting to a new era. Most high-powered rifle bullets leave their barrels at supersonic speeds. At some point in their trajectories, the […]

anchor your spirit

Before electric lights and our fixation with time-pieces, middle-of-the-night “Between Sleeps” were well known, and beyond merely accepted, they were embraced and often highly creative periods. I am in one of those right now with my mind churning on the tumultuous future for all of us that is on the near horizon. I will consider many bits of the converging “perfect storm” without slowing down enough to install links for my source material or itemize the assaults. I’ll get to those here over the next week or so, but for now am going more with a stream-of-consciousness big picture look. First, the good news. Many who concentrate on connecting with the spirit world are talking and writing about the great […]
