A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

A great many people pretend to be confused by this one. You know better. Congratulations. Not only is the word “militia” a good word, a militia is a good thing and, according to people who really knew what they were talking about, it is necessary to the security of a free state.
