High speed Internet gift – TANSTAAFL

A large cluster of men and equipment are currently spending a few weeks in my neighborhood installing a second, and much farther reaching cable system. Undoubtedly it will be carrying 5G to AND FROM a hundred or so far flung homes in this podunk we occupy.

At a couple thousand dollars a day in distribution costs alone, how is this investment of men, equipment operation and hardware cost/benefit justified? Certainly not on fifty or so dollars per month of anticipated subscription fees. So who is paying, and why?

Don’t ask.

You won’t like the answer.

TANSTAAFL – There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. Said another way, “You buy the product or you are the product.”

In addition to the data mining that keeps our online services alive today, they are also installing controls over our useful appliances like heat, cooling, travel and more. The 5G will carry those instructions to our personal spaces while reporting our activities back to the mother ship.

That, boys and girls, is why the Internet carrying tremendous volumes of ‘enemy of the state’ information remains viable. They are gaining more than they are losing.

I am not at this juncture suggesting alternatives.

Not that I haven’t or won’t, just not here and now.
