being comfortable in your own company

This is a very nice little video by a novelist who explains the power of being alone, more importantly being confident in solitude.  Being alone is not the same as being lonely. This is somewhat an updated version of Thoreau’s  Walden Pond. Strong, thoughtful people are not troubled by being away from the herd.

Universally, creative people are not working from within a flock, but by themselves. Build a comfortable world around yourself. Do not allow yourself to be dependent on approval of a gang, group, or crowd.
