fasting

We shrunk my plates, shrunk my portions, mostly eliminated lovely bread and beer from my diet, and so on. Yet old man metabolism methodically added, one gram at a time, more body fat than I could comfortably fit into my wardrobe. Even if I wasn’t too frugal to replace closet and drawers full of over-snug shirts and pants, I very definitely did not want to see a naked Santa Claus facing me in the mirror. If I didn’t draw the line at making me fit my clothes rather than my clothes fit a bigger, softer me, where would I draw that line? … XL, XXL?? Jaba-The-Hut??? This year I have not eaten lunch. There have been a few exceptions, but […]

cleared the workbench… again

In the never-ending battle for clear horizontal spaces, I lose more often than I win. I still have not fully unpacked from our five-day adventure north to a basic long-range rifleman course. But time did not stand still for me. The PatchWorks business sold. I had to get new designs created and patches produced right away, or forever hold my peace. Then the local practical pistol match got all that gear out, and added to my collection needing post-match servicing. My workbench was getting real ugly. It gets that way sometimes, and as often happens, “More Shelves” is the answer. Unfortunately, the workbench I use for creating shelves was covered with STUFF needing put away. I shifted it here and […]

Paper Poppers

I don’t usually shoot this well… I don’t think I do, anyway. This one felt good. Hmmm … so did the rest of the stages I shot Sunday. Maybe I’m improving??? I parked “HITS” in my head and proceeded to do almost exactly that. Running on the assumption that I got hits enabled me to complete it quickly. It certainly helped that I made up my mind to shoot EACH ONE ONCE on the metal targets… that is, to go slow enough to GET HITS reliably… while pushing myself just a bit. I also was prepared to find someone standing after my first pass. Being prepared to ‘improv’, made him fall quickly in succession. My videographer may have been […]

get a grip

I found this post and graphic, but have a much simpler view of it. Number 4, called the 10 and 2 o’clock position, taught in driver’s training, is the correct one for street use. While reasonably relaxed, you can make instantaneous steering changes while retaining complete control of your vehicle. In intense driving situations, such as racing, when you are demanding 100% from man and machine, 9 and 3 are better for control and recovery. They are just more tiring to hold. The only other choice is to remain parked until you are ready to drive. All of the rest are non-driving positions, ready for nothing. It was unavoidable… Accidents happen… If you are lounging in the driver’s seat, you […]

vaccine comparison study revisited

Starting from the assumption that vaccines were good, valuable, and important, a Jackson State University study finds disconcerting patterns of injury to children by the simple expedient of collecting real data from vaccinated and unvaccinated children. This SHOULD be a wakeup call. People SHOULD be inspired to learn about the natural immune system, which is an amazing, intricate, successful masterpiece of nature. Take care of it; it takes care of us. Reinforcing that is the $142 million that has been awarded to 337 vaccine injured families so far this year who had the tenacity, support and appropriate documentation to claim damages in the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VCIP). By what logic are the vaccine companies immune to damages done by […]

Manchester bombing stinks

Coincidence is not proof, but this pattern preceding every major event has been in our faces for fifteen years or more. Their cover is so thin as to be invisible to many of us. Staged fake events like Sandy Hook are not as convincing as false flag events like 9/11. They don’t care – whichever is convenient. Of course they have plenty of overreaction and enhancements for their police state all lined up. The goals are rather obvious. There will be more Manchesters before they are satisfied. head-to-head study of vaccinated vs unvaccinated

Starting from the assumption that vaccines were good, valuable, and important,  a Jackson State University study does find disconcerting patterns of injury to children from the simple expedient of collecting real data from vaccinated and unvaccinated children. This SHOULD be a wakeup call. People SHOULD be inspired to learn about the natural immune system, which is an amazing, intricate, successful masterpiece of nature. Take care of it; it takes care of us. stove-top coffee roasting

Last July I put up a detailed post describing my home coffee roasting process. I am still roasting the same way and won’t repeat that post here. Go there if you want to know step-by-step how to purchase green coffee beans and turn them into wonderful, fresh coffee to suit your own tastes. coffee roasting at home What I am adding with this post is a link to my Vimeo channel where I published a short video clip of the process. Ted roasting coffee beans on gas burner Vimeo is kind-of a liberated YouTube; minus the agenda, censors and big brother aspects. It has the free version that I am currently using and several upgrade levels. I do not appear […]

loyal mug

I have a favorite coffee mug. A couple of days ago, I realized it has been my favorite for a long, long time… that is, in coffee mug years. My daughters invited me to a paint-your-own green clay studio back in February ’99. How do I remember when they did that? It says so on the cup I painted. The shape of the lip, and grace of the cup is crucial. The memories matter. The theme and art cap it off. Can you imagine being loyal to a coffee mug for 18 years? Heck, in our disposable society, almost nothing remains in our lives that long. In my world, it is not alone. Grandpa Herb demonstrated to me: Get quality. […]

stop spring allergies

5 Essential oils to stop spring allergies from Natural News.com Friday, May 19, 2017 by: Russel Davis (Natural News) Allergies affect people all-year round, triggering unwanted symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Most allergies can be treated with over-the-counter drugs. However, medications may not be effective enough to stem allergic reactions. The health and wellness website MindBodyGreen.com lists five essential oils that may combat allergic onset. Green Myrtle – Green myrtle helps boost the body’s oxygen uptake. The essential oil is known to be a potent antispasmodic and expectorant. It is also a powerful anti-catarrhal, which helps the body expel excess mucus. Green myrtle oil can be added to various other essential oils such as almond and coconut […]

my first 1K

I thought of myself as a 600-yard rifleman. In DCM, CMP and NRA High Power competitions, the 600 yard target we shoot at is labeled “MR1”. That stands for “medium range”, standard target. Thus I don’t get an inflated ego from hitting that sucker on a known-distance course of fire. Upon selling The Gentleman Farmer business I owned/operated for 22 years, my gold watch was a nice trombone and a nice rifle. Two tools I had long wished for but never afforded (best boss I ever had). My AR-10 and I are awesome at a known distance of 200 yards and quite clearly effective at measured and marked 600 yards. Of course only paper targets are going to present themselves […]

another cost of modern culture

Who would turn down perpetual attractiveness? Would any of us reject the opportunity for our beauty or handsomeness to last into our old age? That seems a likely cost of open marriages, uncommitted relationships, transgenderism, anti-marriage (and I’m NOT talking about government permits), and, basically, the entire attack on the man-woman, long-term-commitment model. While there may be instances, in fact I’ve seen some where the non-traditional can work in the long run, most do not. Yet culture after culture around the world and throughout history have had the One-Each M+F model work well. I purloined a few sentences from a post on this topic. Click the link to read the whole thing. ———- To me, fair friend, you never can […]

Barter will become the new economy

after the global financial collapse, so make sure you have plenty of these items from www.Collapse.News Written By: JD Heyes May 13, 2017 Following the global collapse of the world’s financial system, which no one knows when will happen but many believe is inevitable given the massive debt held by the world’s biggest economies, the concept of “money” will change virtually overnight. Like post-World War I Germany, when hyperinflation made the currency – the mark – so devalued and worthless that German waiters in restaurants had to climb on tables to announce new menu prices every 30 minutes, the world’s currencies will similarly collapse, since they are all based on the U.S. dollar.   Five years ago an MIT […]

why the new boss is the same as the old boss

Outgoing president Dwight Eisenhower warned us about the growing power of the military-industrial-complex. They obviously control international policy. The drug companies control national drug policy. The banksters control the monetary system. Entrenched systems control the federal government. Little men in the Oval Office are allowed to pontificate and play at being important. Their lifespan is directly related to their unwillingness to tip over the vendors’ carts. American Democracy Is “A Dead Man Walking” Authored by Paul Craig Roberts, Trump’s “sell-out,” as it is called, coming on top of Obama’s eight-year “sell-out,” is instructive. We have now had a Democratic president who sold out the people who elected him and a Republican president who has done the same thing. This is […]
