I have been striving for inner peace in a world where the majority rules – more accurately, the psychopaths rule while the majority cheers them on – and the majority is ignorant, complacent, misinformed
… fat, dumb and happy.
And this is no small majority. The Natural Man looking for an answer finds that a purge, a die off must occur. The breadth of this, the reality of the scope is awesome; often overpowering. For the last week or two I have been working more for inner peace than saving the world. Not that I stopped wishing to save the world, just that I have to admit I cannot succeed. The only choice remaining is to accept that.
The majority of the tribe, the standard of the village, the mass of the flock are getting what they want; what they deserve. While one might say it is not their fault, it is indeed their weakness that sets this up.
The quote that has been stirring in my head this week is:
A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves
– Edward R. Murrow
This week I am joining my friends who keep telling me to “Take care of number one”, that “You cannot save the world”, that “Nature demands occasional purges of the weak”. I don’t like it, but I am working on it. Besides, a whole lot of things just for me have been wanting some of my time. I think I’ll work more on those and less on shouldering the world.
My daily e-mail from Liberty Quotes today contained a handsome set of three that are more to the point of HOW the psychopaths pulled it off, but they fit my mood well, and deserve widespread airing.
“In relation to the political decontamination of our public life,
the government will embark upon a systematic campaign
to restore the nation’s moral and material health.
The whole educational system, theater, film,
literature, the press and broadcasting —
all these will be used as a means to this end.”

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude. To make them love it is the task assigned, in present-day totalitarian states, to ministries of propaganda, newspaper editors and schoolteachers…. The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth.”

“Half the work that is done in this world
is to make things appear what they are not.”
