Motorcycle tire technology has come a long ways from those state-of-the-art Dunlop K81 tires I put on my cafe’ racer BSA 40 years ago. This is a good thing. The K81s had a distinctly wedge shape to the sides forming a very wide traction patch at what the engineers felt was the optimum cornering angle. Kind-of like this: \_/ I became pretty good at hard-charging corners along the hills, rivers and rugged Pacific coasline in my neighborhood. Until the day my lean angle exceeded that designed into the tire. Going off the broad part in a full-G turn had the bike disappear out from under me and my blue jeans disappear from my knee area before my body stopped sliding […]

what do you owe?

Every political candidate on the field is completely out of touch with how screwed the US is economically. According to this source, total combined federal, state, and local revenues for 2015 are projected to equal $6 trillion. Dividing that by the approximately 320 million people in the US, that means government takes $18,750 out of each and every individual, this year alone. For my family of 4, that’s $75,000. I don’t know about you, but that’s a big number for someone like me. But apparently it’s still not enough, because the total national debt, including federal, state, and municipal debt, according to this source, is projected to reach about $21.694 trillion dollars this year, not including unfunded liabilities. Dividing that […]

economic headlines – the perfect storm

Editor note: The headlines jumped out at me. There are always four headlines at King World News, but today all four were talking about a stock market crash happening now. I share some of each article here with links to the full article. This looks very serious. I put this morning’s Kitco SILVER chart at the bottom as a reminder, as well as a picture you may look back on with either pride or shame depending on how much grossly undervalued silver you pick up at these prices. – Ted …………………………………………………………………… A World In Denial, Headed For Full-Blown Panic As The Global Economy And Stock Markets Crash Today the man who has become legendary for his predictions on QE, historic […]

Gullible Americans Forever

— Paul Craig Roberts Gullible Americans Forever Paul Craig Roberts “Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.” — Mark Twain Listening to NPR news today I was reminded how throughly this once independent voice has sold out. I was also reminded of the Mark Twain quote above. NPR reported that Syrians were lined up in Turkey waiting […]

investment diversity into food

Around the world, be it financial collapse, earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, civil unrest, blizzard, or a myriad other abnormalities people have found themselves facing empty store shelves. Talk to them about investment diversity when they cannot buy groceries at any price. You are likely to hear them lamenting their poor pantry planning at the top of the list. Emergency planners list shelter, water, food at the top of anyone’s list. However, few of us can handle several days, let alone a week without resupply. Many cannot handle one day without stocked shelves nearby. Suffice it to say, prudent people of significant maturity to recognize their world has numerous potentials for disaster will have a minimum of several weeks worth of food […]

by Tim Lautzenheiser Below is a chapter written for the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series by Tim Lautzenheiser, published by GIA Publications. While it is directed (specifically) to the band idiom, the essence of the message is applicable for ALL music/arts areas. Author’s note: After three decades of traveling across this nation and around the world visiting music rehearsal rooms, speaking at music conventions, presenting in-service workshops to music teachers, and enjoying the chance to work with our finest public and private school students, it is clear today’s young musicians have a distinct advantage over non-music students as they enthusiastically complete their elementary, middle, and high school careers at the top of their class roster, then they […]

6 Evidence-Based Ways To Burn Belly Fat AND Extend Your Life Posted on: Green Med Info .com Written By: Sayer Ji, Founder   The ongoing battle of the bulge, while once considered primarily a matter of vanity, may actually be one of the best ways to reduce your risk of dying from a multitude of causes (i.e. all-cause mortality), but especially heart attack.[1] Some studies have even revealed that abdominal obesity, known clinically as central obesity, and which is measured by the hip-to-waist ratio, may be more important than blood lipids, i.e. “cholesterol,” in determining heart attack risk. [2] So, with this in mind, the following 6 “diet tips,” take on even greater relevance to your overall health. Coconut […]

Ma Nature issues another warning

She’s clearly on your side. This gentle reminder that you need to be prepared for: Other Than The Usual was relatively kind. Granted, at a measured 74mph, the wind in Missoula on August 10th actually qualified as a Force 11 on The Beaufort Wind Force Scale, officially called “hurricane force”. While at the lower edge of that hurricane rating, it did significant damage, but without reported loss of life or serious structural damage. However, as you might guess, replacing heavy-duty transmission lines will take more than a little time. What did we learn? What was her message to us? Those silly Preppers keep harping on community preparedness and working together instead of betting your being on official responders. Well, as […]

going postal

In a stark contrast between a private service organization and a government monopoly, the Darby/Conner/Sula postmaster has declared war on his customers. This dweeb has decreed that all addresses MUST CONFORM to his whimsical rules or be returned to sender. CUSTOMERS in his SERVICE AREA are now having phones cut off for non payment of bills that did not get delivered, late fees on credit cards for non-payment of undelivered bills, orders and payments for business accounts returned to sender, credit ratings getting wrecked, the local credit union has returned mail stacking up, power company bills don’t reach customers and much, much more. Because somebody put Ed Jolly into the job as POSTMASTER. WooHoo! I am Emperor. They must do […]

essential oils

Modern Essentials is our reference book on essential oils. We bought our copy at the Darby Mercantile (across from the Darby Post Office). Connie also sells essential oils and MANY other healthy products there – in addition to being a fount of knowledge. Well worth a visit. The book is a wealth of near-priceless information worth reading through. However its real power is as a reference with listings organized both by which essential oils have traditionally been used for what, and by which human conditions have inspired people to use which oils. Simple oils extracted from plants have been used by humans for thousands of years. Frankincense and Myrrh are among the more famous, and for good reasons. However, many […]

the science of geoengineering

Harvard, among others, now offers university courses in geoengineering. Put another way, geoengineering is now going mainstream. It is now OKAY to openly discuss the topic … unless you call it “chemtrails”, in which case you are an environmental-wacko, wing-nut and conspiracy-theorist. I have been avoiding the topic. I rather obviously have given people plenty of excuses to apply those three labels to me. I felt no compelling attraction to adding another. I would hear the word “chemtrails” and switch off the internal data storage device, smile politely and let the topic run out of steam. But real data from a multitude of sources has a way of piling up when there is something really going on. The first video […]

THE debate The GOP Debate – Miserable Irrelevancy Nelson Hultberg   Seventeen GOP candidates for president of the United States paraded in front of us in Cleveland on August 6th. The establishment media crowed enthusiastically to the viewers about the import of this gathering to our lives as Americans. Chris Wallace and his fellow questioners milked the affair for all the drama they could squeeze from it.   Unfortunately this two-tiered debate was just one more exercise in the miserable irrelevancy of the media’s handling of “political affairs” in America today. With each passing year the nation drifts deeper into economic ineptitude, a macabre government intervenes further into all the nooks and crannies of our lives, and our culture sinks […]

faking sick

Inventing viruses: a staggering hoax By Jon Rappoport “I have many reasons for exposing hoaxes about viruses. One vital reason: when people realize the truth, they begin to grasp, at a visceral level, what’s possible in the area of fake-reality invention. They see their own prior assumptions go whirling down the drain. They see how many pancakes of propaganda can be stacked up on one plate. The virus hoax cuts very, very deep, all the way down into what people automatically accept as Obvious. It isn’t obvious at all. It’s a complete fabrication. It’s an artifact made out of nothing.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport) Yahoo News, July 3, 2015, “Ebola Returns to Liberia: Where Did It Come From, and Could […]
