By Ted Dunlap, on June 30th, 2014 The problem with thinking for yourself, questioning everything and taking no pronouncements at face value is that what may seem innocuous often triggers offense. Small paragraphs can explode into whole pages. Take this simple headline story, for example: —————————— The new American tax dictate FATCA comes into force Americans avoiding US taxes and stashing cash abroad are in trouble from July 1, when a new law forces institutions hiding money to report on their shady clients. The law will make business with Americans harder, but the US hopes it will raise billions. —————————— So storing your money in the mattress, under a rock or in a federally-controlled institution is okay, but if you dare move it into another sovereign nation […]
By Ted Dunlap, on June 28th, 2014 In a discussion at The Mental Militia forum, one topic touched on “the immigration problem”. A fellow participant made the following comment, which in my opinion, covered a lot of the truth of the matter. I see a threat, but not from the immigrants. The immigrants come here because the US government has set up a system of incentives that rewards them for coming. They are making rational choices given those incentives. I don’t feel in any way superior to any of these people. Their accident of birth place was different than mine. That is all. I have no more claim to living here than they do. I can defend the property that I bought and paid for but I […]
By Ted Dunlap, on June 27th, 2014 Though she now regrets saying it, Hitlary was trying to build empathy by telling her fans that the Clintons “were basically broke” when they left the White House. Poor things. Got a $80 million dollar house in New York City, secret service servants, senate seat, speaking bribes fees … after walking out of the White House with 200-year old silverware, plates and furniture, along with the FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS files and other damning data on enemies and the vulnerable that they accumulated during their stay. The above all came out when it was fresh, along with a lot more really ugly stuff, but the news stories disappear by the time the ink dries on the first reporting of them. […]
By compatriot, on June 25th, 2014 Could This Be the Napster of the Health Care Industry? We have seen the future. In Boca Raton. At the mall. We’re talking about the future of health care. It’s already the nation’s biggest and fastest-growing industry. And it’s ripe for disruption. A big fat plum, waiting for a worm. In fact, were it not for the poisonous gas laid down by Washington and the health care oligarchy, the industry probably would have met its Napster already. For those who are not hip to the online music world, Napster practically destroyed the record industry when it made it possible for people to share their music collections, for free, with other Internet users — without paying the band, the record label, […]
By compatriot, on June 25th, 2014 reminder: The IRS got caught in targeted attacks on enemies of The State (felony criminal acts). Congress decided to investigate. This is all about that investigation. Breaking: IRS “Loses” Lois Lerner Emails! Dear Conservative, The IRS has fought tooth and nail to stall and hold out on surrendering Lois Lerner’s emails to Congressional committees. First, the IRS told Congress that it would take years to access and, if necessary, redact Lois Lerner’s emails. Then, the administration tried to tell Congress what emails it could and couldn’t have. Throughout the administration’s stonewalling, real Conservatives in Congress (yes, they really exist) stood strong and demanded that the IRS obey the lawful Congressional subpoena for ALL of Lois Lerner’s emails. Well, after exhausting […]
By compatriot, on June 25th, 2014 The End of the Government Sponsored Taxi Cab Dear Laissez Faire Today Reader, Imagine this scenario. You’re the head of a brand new company. Your competitors have been in the market for centuries. They’re well organized, powerful, and politically connected. Your product is revolutionary, but you’re having a tough time getting your name out there. And even worse, you’re having an even tougher time explaining your product to new customers. So what do you do? You get your competitors to do all the work for you. That’s pretty much what happened to the livery startup companies Uber and Lyft in a number of European countries last week. And it’s a great example of what’s commonly referred to as the Streisand […]
By compatriot, on June 25th, 2014 The Regulatory State Versus Innovators Mark P. Mills Brazil’s regulators welcomed Airbnb’s couch-surfing home-sharing solution to the shortage of hotel rooms for World Cup visitors. A lot of U.S. regulators aren’t so happy with Airbnb, and similar Web-centric disruptions to traditional controls and taxes associated with the hotel industry. New York City — and Paris to note another — have mounted legal challenges against Airbnb. Only a few years ago few people, especially in Washington D.C., had even heard of Airbnb. From the perspective of Washington D.C., Silicon Valley itself was long viewed as nerd central. No one thought “you got mail” or “apartment sharing” was transformative. But the Internet turned 25 this year and not only have email and […]
By compatriot, on June 17th, 2014 By Steven Bancarz June 14, 2014 Self Help, Spirituality Mentally strong people have healthy habits. They manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in ways that set them up for success in life. Check out these things that mentally strong people don’t do so that you too can become more mentally strong. 1. They don’t waste time feeling sorry for themselves Mentally strong people don’t sit around feeling sorry about their circumstances or how others have treated them. Instead, they take responsibility for their role in life and understand that life isn’t always easy or fair. 2. They don’t give away their power They don’t allow others to control them, and they don’t give someone else power over them. They […]
By compatriot, on June 17th, 2014 from Backdoor Survival I have become a bit discouraged by the number of other-wise intelligent people I meet that do not have a clue about preparedness. Given that a natural disaster can happen to anyone at any time, and the fact that the MSM has been promoting 3 day kits for the past several years, I have to think “What Type of Sandbox are these people living in?” Of course those of us in the know realize that a 3 day kit is the bare minimum requirement for survival following a disaster. We also know that a natural disaster is only one type of threat. Cyber attacks, EMPs, and the dreaded collapse of the global economy are just a few […]
By compatriot, on June 16th, 2014 The Coming Storm The upending of American politics by Justin Raimondo The defeat of Eric Cantor – GOP House majority leader and a leading light of the party’s neoconservative–corporatist wing – has the pundits in an uproar. They are flummoxed: what could have led to one of the biggest upsets in American political history? After all, a party majority leader hasn’t been defeated – let alone in a primary! – since 1877. And who is this guy, Dave Brat, anyway – who raised around $200,000 total, but only spent half of it, while Cantor – the Chamber of Commerce’s best friend – raised and spent millions? They settled on a neat little narrative early on: the election was all […]
By compatriot, on June 14th, 2014 Intelligence Insider Warns of Catastrophic Collapse: “The Tempo of Events is Faster Than Expected” Mac Slavo June 10th, 2014 SHTFplan.com As more and more information about the state of global affairs becomes available one can’t help but realize that life as we have come to know it is going to change dramatically in the very near future. The manipulation of financial markets, the fabrication of economic figures, and the mobilization of government on all levels are clear signs that something is amiss. As has been said on many occasions, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. And that’s the trillion dollar question. When will the system finally come on unhinged? Further, what will be the catalyst that finally sends […]
By compatriot, on June 12th, 2014 The VA Scandal is Just the Tip of the Military Abuse Iceberg Written by Ron Paul Sunday May 25, 2014 President Obama held a press conference last week to express his outrage over reports that the Veterans Administration was routinely delaying treatment to veterans, with some veterans even dying while on alleged secret waiting lists. The president said that, “if these allegations prove to be true, it is dishonorable, it is disgraceful, and I will not tolerate it, period.” He vowed that, together with Congress, he would “make sure we’re doing right by our veterans across the board.” The president is right to be upset over the mistreatment of US military veterans, especially those who return home with so many […]
By Ted Dunlap, on June 12th, 2014 We are coming up to the Nampa Rod And Gun Club match weekend. A real fun favorite match is their Vance Cusic Vietnam Memorial Match… four-man teams in several 200-yard rapid-fire courses of fire, including some moving silhouettes as well as full-sized and “prone silhouettes”. Rifles must be in looks and function semi-automatic versions of rifles used by some military somewhere in the world during the USofA VS Vietnam conflict… that is to say that AR-15s are the predominant choice. They also are only allowed iron sights with peep rear and post front being the main choice. It isn’t worth loading up the high-end target ammo used on high-power matches, but it has to be good enough to stay in […]
By Ted Dunlap, on June 11th, 2014 Much like what is going on at a global and national level, this Saint Louis family faced unpleasant, ugly, potentially fatal choices. The criminals wanted protection from those who would defend themselves. A gun to the daughter’s head seemed like it would suffice. The defenders had to guess intentions and probable results on-the-fly, but it was reasonably safe to assume that armed and willing to threaten violence, the results would be violent. Fortunately for ALL, the defenders chose wisely. This story that you never heard of on mainstream media because it came out well and involved individual armed self-defense, is quite similar to those of us who are standing up against the ruling elite’s relentless efforts to disarm all of […]
